About Fremont

Nestled at the base of Mission Peak in Alameda County, the City of Fremont is located 37 miles South of San Francisco and 16 miles North of San Jose. The region was originally settled by the Spanish with the establishment of Mission San Jose and incorporated in 1956 with the merger of five smaller communities: Centerville, Irvington, Mission San Jose, Niles, and Warm Springs. Today Fremont is home to a diverse community of more than 210,000 people, making it the fourth largest city in the Bay Area.

With its moderate climate and proximity to universities, shopping areas, recreation, and major transportation routes including its own BART Station, Fremont offers metropolitan living at its best. The City offers 50 parks, 40+ sport fields, 250+ picnic areas, and 36 tennis courts across its 92 square miles. Additionally, the Fremont Unified School District has twenty-four "High Performing" Schools with Academic Performing Index scores over 800.
